Thank you for being brave enough to post the animal cruelty video. I can tell you that those were not isolated incidents- they are industry standards. ALL factory farms operate in those ways. I passed a truck the other day with a load of pigs on the way to the slaughterhouse. I had to pull over on the side of the road because I couldn't stop crying. People tend to think of animal rights groups as crazy, irrational freaks. I am none of those. I am caring and compassionate for all living beings. I did not decide to become vegetarian because I didn't like the taste of meat. I have been vegetarian for 3 1/2 years now and when I look at a piece of meat I see a dead carcass of a living being who- just like humans, want to live, raise their young and avoid pain and suffering. Everyone who chooses to eat meat should be required to spend a day at these factory farms. How can anyone claim to be kind or compassionate, or love animals, yet eat them?

Great song (Broken, Beautiful), I've seen Michelle's artwork and know her well enough to realize what and inspiration she is. Love the CD cover, if you put that on a t-shirt I'm buying it. Also curious, are you familiar with the Full Grown band or Angie Rikard? How about Shelia Carlise?

Broken Beautiful is truly one of the most touching and inspiring pieces of music I have ever heard. What a perfect testimonial to Michelle and her power to move beyond what she went through. You captured the emotion so effectively... YOu are very talented.

I am a friend of Michelle's and also a fellow musician (although I have been out of that world for a long time, having become a mother -- two sons, 8 yr old Ethab [!!!] and 6 yr old Evan -- and professional in other areas...). I was vocally trained for many years in the NJ/NYC area, and performed in several bands during my college days. I am a singer mostly, but also did percussion with congas, jimbehs, tambourines, etc. I live in Hickory, and have been searching out musicians who have even the smallest amount of talent... but haven't had much luck around here. So these days, I mostly sing my kids to sleep and wail out Janis Joplin tunes in the shower.

But I am a music enthusiast, and can appreciate talent when I hear it. You, Jamie, have it. So great work, and good luck. I hope to see you perform some time if you are ever near Hickory.

August 13, 2009

Jamie
Checked out the new song, and as with all your music, Broken, Beautiful carries a strong message. I believe that God speaks to us in many different ways, each of us differently. For me, it is usually through music. Is it always "religious" music? No! The message is found where God needs you to find it. Just like salvation doesn't have to be found in "church".

I am so thankful for you and your music and the comfort it has brought me over the years. I can't tell you how many times during the breakup of my marriage that I sat at night, alone and heart broken, listening to your music and finding the strength to get up and go on. Thank God for giving you your talent and the message that he spreads through you.

Now, get back to Wilkes and sing for me!

August 12, 2009

Jamie,
I love Broken, Beautiful. It has to be the most hauntingly beautiful song you have ever written. I'm sure that this song will not only be a blessing to Michelle, but also a way for her & you to speak out against abuse. I can't wait to hear the new album.

Jamie....I just spent the last three hours reading your past journal to date. I must say I was very impressed from where you started to where you are now. You have amazing talent that I hope will NEVER go un- noticed. You are a true testament of life's gains and failures and how it is much easier, to let go of what pains us and to love one another. I would like to reiterate how much I enjoyed hearing your music and meeting you last night at Big Shotz. I will be returning to see you again. You are a TRUE inspiration...at least to me!

Much love in Christ!
